About Me
Hello viewers, I am Lucas Ratliff. I am a music and journalism dual major student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I hope to earn a Bachelor of Arts in May 2026. On this website, I aim to showcase my professional and personal work, so you can determine if you would like to work together.
My specialties as a journalist are as a reporter and as a designer. However, I am confident in my ability to do a bit of everything since the job requires us to wear many hats.
As a musician, I am primarily a trumpet player, but I can play a couple of other instruments at much lower efficiency. I am proficient in many classical and jazz styles, and I have a good understanding of both music theory and history.
On this page, you will find some of the work that I have done for The Antelope newspaper and a couple of feature papers that I have written for my past classes. As I mentioned earlier, I am proud of my work as a writer and hope that you will enjoy this section of my portfolio as much as I did making it.
On this page, I would like to show off some of the design, video and audio work that I have done over the years, since I am proficient with Adobe and similar applications. This is another area where I consider myself strong because it’s something I enjoy and that motivates me to put in extra time.
I couldn’t make an honest portfolio without featuring myself as a musician, so this page is going to be recordings of my past performances that I am proud of. Within this section, I am also going to link my YouTube channel, which I am hoping to make semi-frequent updates to as I further develop my musical skills and try new things, because I can always get better.
